“To the Jew First then the Greek”
“To the Jew First then the Greek”
Last week sin and death over all from first man Adam
Reboot our faith
Second Adam Jesus - forgiveness, everlasting life, peace and joy
While we were still sinners / While still His enemies, Jesus died for us, how much more will He do for us now that He is our Father and we are His children. We are friends with God
I feel the Lord wants now to take us to another level today, to set us up for Him to “Pour Down on Us”
Wednesday night we had the introduction for Hebrews study
The church being birth at Pentecost / spreading throughout and then Gentiles receiving the gospel and coming to know Jesus also
We also covered an amazing principle or just simply the way the Lord has set things up to be “I am the Lord” type saying or by His design to be for the world
To the Jew First then the Greek - shared Wed night about we make the point Jew first in tithing outreach and support
SLIDE 3 Genesis 12: 1-3
Genesis 12: 1
1 Now the Lord said to Abram,
“Go forth from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
SLIDE 4 Genesis 12: 2
2 And I will make you a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And so you shall be a blessing;
SLIDE 5 Genesis 12: 3
3 And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
Tower of Babylon Gen 11, divided the nations, called Abraham to become a nation for Himself, promise of Jesus (the seed) all nations would be blessed
Really have to see how special this is to us as Gentiles!
SLIDE 6 Romans 3: 1-2
1 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?
2 Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.
SLIDE 7 Romans 3: 9
9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin;
Jews (Israel) nation for Himself, gave them His laws His oracles, they fail, under power of sin
We Gentiles not part of His own nation, we are dispersed nations, definitely under power of sin
SLIDE 8 Jew & Gentile nations - pagan or heathen Israel (Jacob) - tribe, fellowship, family
SLIDE 9 Romans 1: 16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
SLIDE 10 Ephesians 2: 11
11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands—
SLIDE 11
12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
SLIDE 12 Ephesians 2: 13-14
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,
Paul starts this chapter off -
SLIDE 13
*dead in our trespasses and sins
*walked in the course of the world
*sons of disobedience
*lived in lust of the flesh and mind
*children of wrath
SLIDE 14
But God.............
*rich in mercy
*great love for us
*while we were dead He made us alive together with Christ
*raised with Him and seated in heavenly places
You you what famous verse is right in the middle of all this truth Paul is proclaiming to us?
SLIDE 15 Ephesians 2: 8-9
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Wait for it.....wait for it....baaam!
SLIDE 16 Ephesians 2: 19-20
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,
SLIDE 17 Ephesians 2: 21-22
21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,
22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
So it just gets better, in Romans chapter 11
How God had a plan to bring us into Hid family, based on......faith in Jesus alone
The Jews rejected Christ but look how masterful our Lord God is
SLIDE 18 Romans 11: 15-16
15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?
16 If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.
SLIDE 19 Romans 11: 17-18
17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree,
18 do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.
